OLD BUSINESS:
-Confirmation Age: Survey results and comments from parents of 9th and 10th graders were reviewed. (Results were from 38 returned surveys out of 40.)
A motion was made by Mary Beth to change the confirmation age, Alyn seconded it, motion carried. Discussion followed. We, the BOE, are changing the age of confirmation because the students wanted to get confirmed earlier. Allowing them to confirm at an earlier age will allow the confirmed to evangelize sooner with the larger parish community. A motion was made by Craig to start preparing for confirmation during the 9th grade year and immediate preparation in the fall of the 10th grade with Confirmation in the fall of the 10th grade year, Laura seconded it, motion carried. Beth and the catechists will determine the transition for the 9th and 10th graders now and put in a request to the archbishop. Even if the students are not enrolled in the confirmation class during a specific year, they are expected to be enrolled in and attending religious education classes. Opportunities for religious education and youth ministry will continue to be offered after students are confirmed. Many suggested that a youth room would be an excellent addition to St. Isidore Catholic Community for our students to gather.
FINANCIAL: No report was available.
